Moshe Feldenkrais was inspirational and realised the potency of paying attention in a particular manner to the nervous system: sadly his ideas were too advanced for his time. It is since his death that neuroscience research has validated his beliefs of neuroplasticity. As a young therapist I remember well the resistance of some Neurologists to focused communication work with Stroke patients. They argued the impossibility of affecting the brain and the futility of any intervention. I am afraid that despite many discussions, I was unable to inspire them at the time without signifcant research and the overwhelming science to back me up. There are times when we have to take a leap, look at the evidence and also give ourselves permission to see beyond what we are able to prove right now and realise our potential. As Moshe said “Make the impossible possible, the possible easy and the easy – elegant”
